Thanks to the films of André Gladu, André Savoie (known as André à Toto) is one of the most famous Acadian fiddlers. But he never recorded an album, and mostly performs in New Brunswick. Nevertheless, he’s a legend in Québécois circles for his complex crooked tunes, though few have ever met him. We tracked him down in Shippagan, New Brunswick, and spent an unforgettable afternoon with him, sharing stories and learning more about his tunes. The tunes we’re playing here are Reel Coqueron/Reel Saint Anne (his own version)/Reel à Belzébuth.

Had to check the notes to see who else was playing fiddle. Laura’s versatility is astonishing, combined with superb skills from her friends. Not going to choose a favourite track until another ten plays, if then. Please don’t make us wait two decades for more. kinfan
