There are still many Acadian fiddlers in the Western part of Prince Edward Island, but Sid Baglole was one of the greats, and was only rarely recorded. Some of his tunes we learned from the Arsenault family and from Barachois. Baglole’s tunes had that wonderful syncopated bowing style that really drives a dance on the dance floor and that we’ve come to see as a signature of old-school Acadian fiddling through the Maritimes. The names of these tunes are Old Timer’s Reel/The Twin Sisters/Reel traditionnel.

Had to check the notes to see who else was playing fiddle. Laura’s versatility is astonishing, combined with superb skills from her friends. Not going to choose a favourite track until another ten plays, if then. Please don’t make us wait two decades for more. kinfan
